In the middle of the beach of Doniños, at the base of Monteventoso, are
the ruins of the castle of Doniños, built in 1795 by the engineer M. Hermosilla and destroyed by the english on
the 25 of August of 1800. The castle, of which I haven't found any maps, only conserves part of the perimetral wall. There's
a military base still in use, or at least looks so, about 500m behind these ruins. It's actual funtion is for shooting practice.
En medio de la playa de Doniños, a los pies de Monteventoso, se encuentran
las ruinas del castillo de Doniños, construido en 1795 por el ingeniero M. Hemosilla y destruido por los ingleses
el 25 de Agosto de 1800. Este castillo, de la que no he podido encontrar planos en ningún sitio, solo conserva parte de su
muro perimetral.
Hay una base militar actualmente en uso, o al menos eso parece, a unos 500m
detrás de estas ruinas. Su función es la de campo de tiro.

View from the beach towards the castle fo Doniños. You can see the old
fence of the military base, going from the left to the ruins. This fence reaches an abandoned sentry box, built against the
wall of the castle. The actual fence is well behind now, about 500m. On the top os the mountain behind, you can see the white
house of Monteventoso.

de la base militar, desde la izquierda hasta la ruinas. Este cierre llega hasta una garita abandonada, construida contra el
muro del castillo. El cierre actual se encuentra bastante más atrás. En lo algo del monte (Monteventoso) vemos la casa
blanca.

An to finalize this short trip, a photo taken from the top of Monteventoso
with the exact location of the castle. It's a shame that a ruin with such history is left in such a bad state.
Y para finalizar, una foto sacado desde lo alto de Monteventoso con la localización
exacta del castillo. Es una pena que una ruina tan cargado de historia se encuentre en un estado tan lamentable.
