Cabo Silleiro Underground Tour

It's time to enter the underground complex. I remind possible visitors that those who are scared of the dark, closed places and bats, don't bother entering.

Ya es hora de adentrarnos en el interior de la base. Recuerdo a posibles visitantes que aquellos que tengan miedo a la oscuridad, a los sitios cerrados o a los murciélagos, se abstengan de entrar.

Once we have passed the 60 cm diameter hole in the wall we find ourselves in a dark garage of some sort. In the left corner a cage with electrical panels. We follow the central stairs.

Una vez superado el agujero de entrada de aproximadamente 60 cms. de diámetro, nos encontramos en una sala, similar a un garaje con una celda de cuadros eléctricos en la esquina izquierda. Nuestro camino son las escaleras del medio.

Once going up the stairs we enter a long dark passage that leads down to the right. Along the right wall are entrances to similar garages that once lead out onto the main square.

Gran vista desde la cima. Podemos observar desde este punto el bunker de telemetría, y tres de los cuatro cañones. Una cosa es verlo en foto y otra muy distinta el verlo en directo.

I've reached this spot by going down the tunnel above, the which exits here on the left side of the photo. Behind me a sealed exit to the square, on the right a vandalized office and ahead and passed the gates... the tunnels that lead down to the 4 Vickers 152,4 positions.

El tunel de antes desemboca aquí por la izquierda, a mi espalda una salida sellada a la plaza, a la derecha una oficina vandalizada y de frente tras las verjas... los túneles que llevan a los 4 cañones Vickers 152,4.

About 20 meters passed the gates is a large dark room on the left. If you look up to the ceiling your'll see this long shaft. Well, that up there is the level of the first cannon. Now that's find how to get up there.

A unos 20 metros de las verjas y a mano izquierda entramos en una sala oscura. Si miramos hacia el techo vemos este foso, la cual no indica la altura a la que se encuentra la primera pieza. Era cuestión de averiguar como subir.

On one side of the room is this little access. This is the difficult way up.

A un lado del cuarto se encuentra este minúsculo hueco. Esta es la manera de subir.

Once reaching the first landing, your've got to climb up these rusting rods up to the next level. And so on...

Una vez que llegamos al primer nivel subimos por esta escalerilla muy oxidada hasta el siguiente nivel. Y así sucesivamente...

Once up the to we enter a closed room with a little vent on the roof. There's a ramp and a metal door behind the which is...

Una vez arriba llegamos a un cuarto sellado con un hueco de ventilación en techo. hay una rampa y una puerta metálica tras la cual se encuentra...

Is the first Vickers 152,4 cannon in pitch black. There were several little bats in this bunker. The state of the cannon is great, with very little graffiti in this place. You can still see camouflage paint on the left hand side of the bunker.

El primer cañón Vickers 152,4 en plena oscuridad. Había varios murciélagos aquí dentro. El cañón se encuentra en relativo bueno estado de conservación con pocos grafittis. Aún se percibe la pintura de camuflaje en las paredes izquierdos del bunker.

Once down in the tunnels we reached the first stairs and ramp with rails that lead down into the darkness. Doesn't this remind you of the inside of a whale?

Una vez abajo de nuevo llegamos al primer bloque de escaleras y rampa con railes que llevan abajo hacia la oscuridad. No os parece el interior de una ballena?

Impressive view. The tunnel divides into two. To the left to position Nº2 and to the right down with stairs and ramp to position Nº3.

Impresionante vista de como el túnel se divide en dos. A la izquierda hacia la pieza Nº2 y hacia la derecha con escaleras y rampa hacia la pieza Nº3.

Vickers Nº3: Vandalized, grafitti and with blocks of wall on it.

Vickers 152,4 Nº3: Vadalizado, grafittis y con trozos de muro sobre él.

Down again to the fourth cannon. Imagine coming down here on your own???

Abajo de nuevo hacia la cuarta pieza. Te imaginas bajar aquí solo???

After seeing the Nº4 and spending nearly THREE hours underground we decided to leave the complex. This is the opposite end of the first tunnel we saw. At the end is the access to the telemeter bunker.

Tras ver la pieza Nº4 y llevar casi TRES hora bajo tierra, decidimos marchar. Este es el lado opuesto del primer túnel que vimos. Al fondo la subida hacia el bunker de telemetría.

This is the other entry and exit; the telemeter shaft. A great place to visit although it's a shame it's in such a bad state.

Esta es la otra entrada y salida; el foso del bunker de telemetría. Es un lugar impresionante aunque es una pena que esté tan sumamente vandalizado.
