Some sites which we have entered are not absolutely safe. In order to avoid disagreeable surprises and so that your trip is
not in vain we are going to create this reference guide. It is of free selection to take one or several of the following items
but after seeing the pictures of each site you can obtain conclusions.
OLD CLOTHES
Very resistant . Jeans protect the legs well; also take a jumper or jacket.
FOOTWEAR
If possible
Gore-Tex boots. The vegetation is usually very damp in dark areas. Another alternative are old trainers. I don't recommend
summer shoes.
RAIN-CAPE WITH HOOD
In case of having unstable time. In any case, have one also near by.
TORCH
We recommended to take a powerful, bright, resistant torch with a cord on the end to facilitate its mooring leaving the
free hands. Also take spare batterys and a bulb.
MULTIPURPOSE KNIFE
For anything that could arise.
GLOVES
To avoid cuts against objects VERY oxidized.
HELMET
To avoid hitting your head against half-ruined walls.
SCALING CORD
In case it is wanted to lower
any deep and dark place and to go down on unstable metal staris(see Monte Ventoso), (In case of taking also I recommend a
safety belt)
WALKIES
Their useful for the communication between two people if each one decides to go on there
own or if a person or group decides to lower to a site and to leave someone above with another walkie.
MOBILE TELEPHONE
In case you get stuck down something (another question is if the phone works down there)
WATER
There's nothing worse than, after crossing several kilometers of
hills, you find yourself dehydrated without water to drink. I'm saying this by own experience. It only hapenned on my first
trip.
KIT FIRST AID
Although we have never needed it nor taken one, there should always be one in someones car
in case anything happens.
I recommend to have this in mind:
-Above all, always remember that these places were military instalations
and that it's not impossible to find ammunition or explosives. Under any concept, do NOT touch these elements
as the pass of time can make them explode at a minimum touch.
-In case of being inside a site of restricted access and being seen by someone, have an escape plan.
-Don´t start
running unless it's really necessary.
-A meeting point is advisable in case of the previous points.
-In case
of having to give explanations, it's worth saying the truth or at least give convincing explanations.
I'd
also mention that in underground places:
- the floors can be very weak by the pass of time due to the HUMIDITY; mainly
if there is water filtering from the outside causing an accumulation on a certain spot. Step on the ground as if is a fine
ice layer. Never walk quickly in an badly illuminated place.
- There are insects. If there are other dangerous things,
I haven't seen or heard them.
- I recommend to NEVER visit these places alone. Even if two people go underground,
you start to hear and see things that aren't even there.
- Under any concept, never put in danger your phisical integrity
like lowering to a site without a torch just because of the fact of not wanting to return another day. I believe that he is
better to return in another occasion than to die in the attempt.
Algunos sitios en los que hemos entrado no son del todo seguros. Para evitar sorpresas desagradables y para que vuestro viaje
no sea en vano vamos a crear esta guia de referencia.
Es de libre eleccion llevar uno o varios de los siguientes objetos
pero a base de ver las imagenes de cada sitio podreis sacar conclusiones de que llevar.
ROPA VIEJA
Sobre
todo muy resistente. Los vaqueros protegen bien las piernas; arriba un jersey o camisa. Pero por encima de todo, prendas a
los que no tengias aprecio.
CALZADO
A ser posible unas botas Gore-Tex. La vegetacion suele ser muy humeda
en zonas densas, cualquiera la hora que sea. Otra alternativa son unos tenis viejos. No recomiendo zapatos ni ningun calzado
veraniego.
CHUBASQUERO
Solo en caso de tener tiempo inestable. De todas formas, nunca esta de mas tenerlo
cerca.
LINTERNA
Recomendamos llevar una linterna potente, ligera, resistente y con una cuerda en el extremo
para facilitar su amarre dejando las manos libres. Tampoco estaria de mas llevar pilas y una bombilla de repuesto.
NAVAJA MULTIUSOS
Por cualquier cosa que pudiera surgir.
GUANTES
Para evitar cortes no deseados contra
objetos MUY oxidados.
CASCO
Para evitar golpes contra muros semiderruidos.
CUERDA DE ESCALADA
Por si se quiere bajar a algun lugar profundo y oscuro y no nos fiamos de las escaleras metalicas (vease Monte Ventoso).
(En caso de llevarse tambien recomiendo un arnes de seguridad)
WALKIES
Su uso es util para la comunicacion
entre dos personas si cada uno decide ir por su lado o bien si una persona o grupo deciden bajar a un sitio y dejar a alguien
arriba con otro walkie.
TELEFONO MOVIL
Por si os quedais en el fondo de algo (otra cuestion es que tengais
cobertura)
AGUA
No hay cosa peor que tras recorrer varios kilometros por
el monte te encuentres deshidratado y sin nada que beber. Lo digo por experiencia propia.
KIT PRIMEROS AUXILIOS
A
pesar de que nunca lo hayamos llevado, creo que es bastante necesario por si hubiera algun percance.
Conviene
tener esto en cuenta:
-Recordar siempre que estos lugares fueron instalaciones militares
y que no sería imposible encontrar munción o explosivos abandonados. Bajo ninún concepto tocar estos elementos ya que el paso
del tiempo puede hacer que exploten al mínimo roce.
-En caso de estar en un sitio de acceso restringido y ser visto por
alguien, tener un plan de escapada.
-No te des a la fuga a no ser que sea realmente necesario.
-Un punto de
reunion es conveniente en caso de lo anterior.
-En caso de tener que dar explicaciones, casi vale la pena decir la
verdad o al menos dar explicaciones convincentes.
Tambien cabe mencionar que en los lugares subterraneos:
-Los suelos pueden estar muy debilitados por el paso del tiempo debido a la HUMEDAD; sobre todo si hay agua filtrandose
desde el exterior haciendo que se acumule en un sitio determinado. Pisar el suelo como si se tratase de una fina capa de hielo.
Nunca camineis deprisa por un lugar mal iluminado.
-Hay insectos. Si hay otras cosas peligrosas, yo aun no las he
visto o oido.
-Recomiendo que NUNCA se visiten solos estos lugares. Aun yendo dos se empieza a escuchar ruidos y a
ver cosas que no estan.
-Bajo ningun concepto, poner en peligro vuestra integridad fisica como bajar a un sitio sin
linterna solo por el hecho de no querer volver otro dia. Creo que es mejor regresar en otra ocasion y no morir en el intento.
